Abstract

I'm excited to share a ‘sister’ journal to Wound Central. Wound Care Professional is a new resource to assist you in your day-to-day care of patients' wounds. A joint venture with the Journal of Wound Care's (JWC) renowned publisher, we provide the most up-to-date, cutting edge research and clinical expertise for the global wound care community. As always, my focus will be on clinicians at the bedside by sharing valuable information to learn today, use today.

Chronic, non-healing wounds pose on-going challenges for clinicians and are painful, costly, and affect the quality of life for patients. Although there are lots of wound care products available, we have chosen to highlight products in our first issue with exciting technology and evidence-based research that have already been game-changers for many wounds. Look inside to discover promising, innovative products that just may be the key to healing your patients' wounds.

Learn about unique products formulated from a specialized protein that are considered the ‘closer’ for wounds. They deliver keratin-rich proteins to stimulate cells to grow to enable closure by re-epithelialization.

A remarkable, really thin wound care dressing is one of-a-kind. It is totally synthetic, bioresorbable, conforms easily to the wound bed and has antimicrobial properties to deliver a lower concentration of silver reducing the risk of toxicity.

To top off our product highlights, we have included a product that many of you have in your wound cart. It is an all-time favorite and go-to-product for many wounds—the foam dressing. Foam dressings are known for their absorbency, ability to keep wounds warm and provide comfort to the patient.
